When we furnished The Gray Lady, we did it with guests, large groups, holidays, outdoor adventures, and kids and dogs in mind. Everything in the house is new, comfortable, durable and high quality. Radiant heated concrete floors with laminate hardwood ( quite resistant to scratching or pitting) are consistently warm without the need for rugs which could get ruined easily . The rugs that are in the house are either polypropylene which can be hosed off or wool which is cozy and easily cleaned.

Bedrooms are furnished with 300 thread count sheets, mattress toppers and plenty of pillows and comforters; duvet inserts and pillows are feather/down. Polyester fill pillows and comforters are stored in the first floor linen closet. 4 of the 5 bedrooms have their own bathroom. The fifth bathroom has its own master bath entrance across the hall.
The office/bedroom has a desk with a Chromebook and laser jet printer so you can look up trails, flight info, recipes, etc. and print them out.
Bathrooms have wide-counter pedestal sinks to set your dob kit, storage towers, teak stools for your pyjamas, shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap, as well as cozy bathmats and towels. Each closet has shelving, hangers, a hair dryer and hamper.
The kitchen is very well stocked with spices, small appliances, knives, cutting boards and pots and pans of all sizes - enough to make a feast. Two sinks and multiple work stations so lots of folks can cook at once. Lots of serving platters, spoons, forks and bowls are also in the cupboards. There's still plenty of space to store your own food though! Music from the receiver in the living room can be heard here (or not, as you choose.)
The dining room also has in-ceiling speakers, as well as a 9 foot by 40 inch table that extends to 12 feet long. There are 10 comfortable bistro style chairs, a dining bench for at least 4, 3 bar stools and 7 other chairs that can easily be brought into the room for a colossal dinner party! The room comfortably seats 18-22 people and the house has dishes, cloth napkins and silverware for 24.
The living room has lots of plush leather and velvet seating, cozy throws and a big coffee table for puzzles, games or mapping out the day's adventure. This room also has a large screen TV with cable, a DVD player and a receiver with ipod/mp3 input and zoned speakers.
The game room is on the first floor and equipped with another large screen TV with cable and WiFi and a Xbox 360 which also plays DVDs. The media center also has boards games, cards and puzzles. Some guests can gather here and be completely separate from the group in the living room. We also left floor space so the queen aerobed can be set up in here.
The West side entries to the house, through the garage, driveway or porch, all access the mud area and laundry room. Ski storage is right in the garage. It's very easy to come in the house, drop your gear, stack your dirty shoes, wash off your stuff in the enormous laundry sink and hang it to dry on the racks or throw it in the washer and dryer.
